Griffin Allman (b. 1997) is an artist and art educator currently working in Knoxville, TN. Allman received his BFA in Studio Art and his BA in Art Education from Kent State University in Kent, OH, in 2021. He is currently a third-year MFA candidate with a concentration in Painting & Drawing at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. Allman has exhibited work nationwide, including but not limited to First Street Gallery in New York City, Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, and the Candoro Marble Building in Knoxville, TN.

Allman's artistic practice consists of drawings, paintings and assemblages that primarily focus on the search for control and the subsequent form that it takes. Utilizing a process of improvisation, erasure and reinvention, Allman investigates the act of layering, flatness and memory to develop a visual language that places emphasis on the ability to consistently recontextualize  how one depicts and relates to their past, present and future selves. Through material choices that reflect both the formal qualities of art-making and the utilization of personal memorabilia, image and form are manipulated and altered to reflect one's urgency to archive and memorialize the various versions of themselves.
